Assembled my big toy this week and I’m pretty pleased with the result. Sometimes when doing something, don’t overthink it—just get started first~

Interesting Tools

Security Equipment Specs
http://www.hk0523.com/
Preparing to install an NVR. The JD product details page didn’t have many specs, but then I found this site, which is pretty neat~~

QRcode Cat
https://www.qrcode-cat.com/
A website to convert anything into a QR code. Features are quite complete, though the source code isn’t open source~~

Learning

Learn Regex
https://github.com/ziishaned/learn-regex/blob/master/translations/README-cn.md
Brushed up on regular expressions again. The hardest parts to remember are still those rarely used lookaround assertions: ?= ?! ?<= ?<!

Life

How Much NVR Hard Drive Capacity to Choose?
While looking into NVRs, I casually calculated how much storage space is needed per day for cameras at different resolutions.

“Three Destiny” (三命)
https://www.bilibili.com/bangumi/play/ss92457
Watched Three Destiny this week, a TV series directed by Johnnie To. The plot revolves around parallel universes created by three different choices the male protagonist makes during key life moments;
I was completely immersed in the story because I often wonder myself: what would have happened if I had chosen the other option back then?
Thinking deeper, even if I chose the alternative self back then, would those two parallel paths still intersect later on?

Assembling the Big Toy
My custom big toy arrived right at the end of May—just before Children’s Day on June 1st. Without realizing it, Children’s Day has become such a distant memory~~

  • Tabletop: 20kg
  • Standing desk motor frame: 32kg

Overall quite satisfied. The only slight downside is when the motor goes all the way up, giving it a firm push side-to-side still has a bit of wobble;
The seller included caster wheels, which I’m super happy with—otherwise handling this weight alone would really be quite a struggle

Always Forgetting What I’ve Learned?
There are plenty of great tutorials & articles in my Chrome bookmarks. In fact, I’ve already studied and read many of them, but I always forget that I’ve already seen them;

To fix this, after reading something, I delete it from bookmarks and create a new page in Notion to record that I studied it;
That way, when revisiting later, finding that page tells me when I learned that knowledge. If forgotten, time to refresh la ~~
