Tidied up my room earlier and unearthed game discs 💿 from my youth. This pile of CDs probably cost a few thousand bucks back then—no idea how my teenage self had that kind of cash. End of an era~~
Interesting Tools
iTerm2 MCP
https://github.com/ferrislucas/iterm-mcp
Tried out a simple MCP server to control iTerm—no need to memorize a bunch of CLI commands anymore! Especially commands like awk that you don’t use often but occasionally need~

Learning
Android ADB
https://developer.android.com/tools/adb
ADB is such a great tool. In the past when installing APKs on a Sony TV, I only knew how to use a USB flash drive, and apps like YouTube and Netflix weren’t even guaranteed to install cleanly;
Now using ADB directly from Docker to install onto the Sony TV. Apple TV, HBO, Netflix, etc. all installed and running smoothly.

Life
Replacing the Oral-B iO7 Battery
Recently my Oral-B iO7 electric toothbrush wouldn’t hold a charge—probably a false 100% readout with dead cells. Bought a replacement battery on Taobao, and the process was shockingly easy. Back to full health!
- Unscrew the base of the 🪥 using the charging stand
- Pop out the coil clip at the top of the 🪥
- Push downwards, done
At first I thought it would be super tricky and might ruin the waterproofing, BUT once taken apart, it was remarkably simple—infinitely easier than replacing an iPhone battery~

New Desk Time!
Found my old desk purchase history: bought it casually in January 2021 for ¥200+. Used it for over 4 years. Even though only one drawer broke, it felt too cramped—gave myself an excuse to upgrade~
Components~
- Custom solid wood tabletop
- Standing desk motorized frame
Extremely time-consuming, especially the communication. Originally looked at Loctek all-in-one desks on JD, but they didn’t specify wood types and only had one solid wood option. So I opted for a custom tabletop. Spent an entire evening researching lumber alone.
Tabletop construction types~
- Composite laminate / engineered board (popular in Scandinavian style, resistant to warping)
- Edge-glued solid wood planks (what people commonly call multi-plank, customizable materials)
- Single solid slab (too expensive, not practical for average folks)
- Others
Weighing options between these wood types—even insiders can get tricked since domestic wood is often passed off as imported:
- Oak (Red Oak / White Oak) -> Great for southern climates, high hardness, mold-resistant
- Ash -> Relatively affordable, easy to work with
- Cherry -> Has mineral streaks, relatively soft, darkens with age
- Black Walnut -> Dark, premium aesthetic
I ended up choosing a 5-plank red oak finished with a black walnut stain. If you want to know more, just ask ChatGPT—I’m only a semi-expert myself~~
